This week we will be reading 10 apples on top. We will get into the fall spirit and talk about apple orchards, different kinds of apples, and counting. Students will get to have some hands on fun and use some of their senses with some fun activities.
09/13: Addison PTA Family Fun Carnival (5:00 pm)
09/19: Field Trip to Art Barn
09/23-27: Fall Break
In reading we will focus on 10 Apples on Top. We will start with a look through and read the pictures. The kids do a really good job telling the story by reading the pictures and enjoy telling what they think the pictures are saying. We will also do a read through, and read a 10 Red Apples Poem. Students will be able to identify the characters and setting in the story as well as the main idea. Students are getting better at identifying these parts of a book, but still need some additional work. We will also work on a venn diagram to compare the story to the poem.
In math we will continue to work on counting, and numbers, and start focusing more on shapes. Shapes we will be focusing on are squares, circles, rectangles, triangles, and hexagons. We will look at one shape each day and talk about the different parts of each shape (sides, vertices, curved/straight lines).
We will get to visit the science lab this week and know the kids will have a ton of fun. They really enjoy everything Mrs. Knobbe has prepared for them. We will also do a few fun activities using our senses, and science methods. Students will compare Red, Green, and Yellow apples. How do they look, smell, feel, taste (alike or different). We will also do another sink/float activity and see if whole and sliced apples sink or float.
This week in social studies we will continue on talking about what it means to be a good citizen in our classroom and school. Last week we had a funky schedule with testing and missing Monday so we missed some social studies lessons. We will catch up this week with the American Flag, Georgia Flag, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Please send in field trip permission slips ASAP! Cafeteria needs to know how many sack lunches will be needed.
- Kindergarten does not get progress reports the first time as we are still working on assessments.
- Students are still doing great on HW. Please keep up the great work. I love seeing the progress and what they complete! I appreciate some of yall dating the pages so I know what goes with what. It is fine to complete more than one day on each page as well.
- Students morning work on Mondays is cutting out and gluing their HW pages in their journals. They all get all the pages and have journals opened to where to glue the pages. Last week I guess some did not complete the assignment, so from now on I will be checking to make sure everything is in their journals.
- Please continue to put how they are getting home each day in their agendas. It helps out a lot with dismissal. If they are ASP all week you can just write at the top ASP all week.
- Please write in Agenda if they can get ice cream on Fridays.
- Please continue on working with your children logging into Reading Eggs and RAZ kids, it will really help them with logging into the computers in computer lab.
