This week for reading we read a bunch of Dr. Seuss books! We discussed how he was the author and illustrator for many of his book. We watched a short video on who Dr. Seuss was and wrote what we learned. We told who were the characters, and settings in stories. What happened in the beginning, middle, and end of stories. Told what the problem and solution was in a book. As well as compared two books, they were able to identify what was the same and different from the two books. We ended with some fun activities with Bartholomew and the Ooobleck with getting to play with oobleck. And we read Green Eggs and Ham and tried Mrs. Wilkinson's version of Green Eggs and ham. Ask your students what they thought of both!
This week we continued to work on subtraction. We used manipulatives, our fingers, pictures, playdough, etc. Next week we will start to work on word problems with addition and subtraction.
In writing this week we also focused on Dr. Seuss. We read books and answered questions about stories. We did an opinion piece on how we felt about the book. We also did a rhyming piece with writing.
